Cleaning Your Jewelry

Filed Under (Articles) by admin on 21-09-2006

To keep your jewelry sparkling you’ve got to take care of it! Cleaning your jewelry is an important part of its care.

No matter how careful you are with your jewelry daily life will take its toll on it - grime and dirt, hair spray residue, soap film - they all cause a residue to build up on your jewelry making it dull and unimpressive.

Cleaning your jewelry should be done with a little caution. Some stones such as turquoise, pearls, or opals, do not fair well with harsher cleaners. Use only warm soapy water and a Q-tip to gently clean these stones or gems.

Rinse and polish. Toothpaste also works well. Place a small amount on a soft bristle brush, scrub, rinse well, then polish with a soft cloth.

Sterling silver jewelry is beautiful. However, overtime it will tarnish and not look so beautiful. It is important to clean your sterling jewelry regularly.

There are many silver cleaner dips on the market which can be used for jewelry that has no stones or gems. However, I don’t recommend using silver cleaners on jewelry that has stones or gems set in it.

In these cases I recommend using a Q-tip to apply the cleaner directly to the just the silver, then rinse completely and polish with a soft cloth. If you wish, you can use a blow dryer on the setting to make sure there is no water residue left.

Do not let your jewelry soak for long periods of time in cleaner. The moisture can damage

Eliminate Adware and Spyware

Filed Under (Articles) by admin on 21-09-2006

Everyone should eliminate spyware and adware from your hard drive for your computer privacy protection. Spyware and adware programs also slow down the speed of your computer by cluttering your hard drive with annoying programs. Once you eliminate adware and spyware, your computer speed will improve immediately.

Spyware compromises the security of your personal information because the creators of these hidden programs can get access to your desktop even while you are offline.

Adware creates annoying pop ups while you use the Internet. It can change your home page and even hijack certain pages to display their own messages, which are sometimes obscene.

One of the most effective ways to stop spyware and adware is the use of computer firewall protection. These programs eliminate incoming spyware and adware that is attached to the legitimate data that you download when surfing the web.

Some computer firewall protection programs display the number of attempted ‘hacks’, which includes any illegitimate programs or data: spyware, adware, or other potentially harmful files such as viruses.

It is not unusual for computer firewall protection software to block hundreds of ‘hacks’ per day. Some users are more exposed than others to the negative effects of spyware, adware, and viruses.

One important factor is the type of connection that your computer has to the Internet. For example, DSL ‘cable’ connections are replacing the old ‘dial-up’ connections that run over a household’s normal phone lines.

With a DSL connection, your computer can be connected to the Internet all day, every day. This increases the likelihood of

Starved Spirits, Sorrowful Souls

Give us today our daily bread. Matthew 6:11 (NIV)

We can be intelligent, healthy, rich, and religious and it would be meaningless without bread. The most pious saint is still dependent on bread. So this prayer is an admission of a great need; the need for bread and it is all-inclusive. No man can eat intelligence. We cannot eat money; we cannot eat the Bible and survive.

The implication in this prayer is clear: we are dependent creatures. We need something that we are incapable of furnishing for ourselves. The tractor moves down the furrows, we plant the seed, but what purpose would it serve if there was no life in the seed? Someone has put life in the seed, life in the soil, and life in the earth. Even though we are co-laborers with God in His work, we are still dependent upon Him and His creation. We know this because if the life in the seed and soil dies, we also die.

It is only when we realize and recognize the nature of our relationship to God are we able to even hope to understand our own life or to deal adequately with life’s many complexities. Whether we like it or not, we are creatures of the dust and to dust we will return. We are wholly, completely, totally dependent upon God’s mercies.

Give us today our daily bread. Not only is this prayer a reference to physical hunger, but also to spiritual hunger. Dr. David G. Myers, in his article,
