Weight Loss for Good - If Only You Had Known

Filed Under (Articles) by admin on 29-10-2006

Whether coming from a close friend, the nightly news or from a letter in the mail, it’s hard to face the truth at times. Hear-ing it can really cut to the core of our be-ings.

Today, fitness books are mostly filled with advertisements, pill pushers and un-realistic programs that give people false hope. My intention in this book is to give you real hope and with that you’ll get straight talk.

It is not my intention to force anything on you or to come across in a harsh way. While the words may be tough to hear, understand I don’t know how else to say what I have observed for all these years. We Americans have been HAD because we have not received the truth about what it really takes to be fit and to stay healthy. Quick fixes abound, but the truth is there are no quick fixes that really workor that last.

It is my responsibility as a fitness professional to provide you with the facts. And it is my hope that you read this with an open mind and that you understand if you don’t do anything about your health today, tomorrow you may say,

“If only I had known.”

IF ONLY YOU HAD KNOWN!

I didn’t have much time to pack my bags that day; matter of fact, I’m still wearing the same clothes I put on that morning .I met all three of them on the way up here. They said they would hitch a ride,

Interest-only Mortgages Have Their Pitfalls

Filed Under (Articles) by admin on 29-10-2006

Rising home prices, particularly on the East and West coasts have put the costs of home ownership seemingly beyond the reach of many. And yet, home ownership is up nationwide, and the percentage of Americans who own their homes is the highest it has ever been. How is this possible?

There are more different types of mortgages available to home buyers than ever before, and one that is growing in popularity is the interest-only mortgage. With an interest-only mortgage, the buyer pays no principal for the first few years of payments. The period of time varies, and is typically anywhere from one to five years. At that time, the principal is added to the mortgage payments and the amount of the payment increases. By keeping the payments lower for the first few years of the mortgage, the interest-only mortgage allows buyers to obtain a more expensive home than they otherwise might. The buyer’s income will probably increase over time, making it possible to afford the higher payments that will come when the principal is finally added to the payments.

The downside to an interest-only mortgage is that no equity accrues in the home if the buyer isn’t paying any principal. For many Americans, the equity in their home is their single largest financial asset, so taking out a mortgage that doesn’t build equity would seem to be a bad idea. Equity has long been used as a last resort source of funding for emergencies. And yet, with the price of homes rising

Type I Diabetes - Insulin-Dependent Diabetes

Filed Under (Articles) by admin on 29-10-2006

Type I diabetes is also known as insulin-dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes. This form of diabetes is mainly found in children. The primary problem in all forms of diabetes, regardless if it is Type I or Type II is that the glucose (sugar) levels of the body are too high.

In a healthy person, the beta cells in the pancreas produce a hormone called insulin in response to sugar in the blood. The sugar gets there through the food and drinks we consume. Normally, the insulin helps to move the sugar from the bloodstream and into the cells of the body where it can be used for cellular processes. The insulin triggers gates located in the membranes of the cells to open, allowing the sugar to flow in.

A person with Type I diabetes can not make enough or any insulin. This produces the abnormally high levels of glucose in the bloodstream seen in these patients.

The question begs to be asked, “Why doesn’t the body produce insulin?” In Type I diabetes the culprit is the immune system. Something, whether it be genetic or environmental is still not clear, triggers the immune system to malfunction. Instead of viewing the beta cells of the pancreas as “self”, the immune system sees the beta cells as foreign invaders. Doing what it’s supposed to do, which is attack and destroy invading cells, the immune system in error attacks the beta cells.

Even though other beta cells can be produced by the pancreas, the speed at which the
